Thanks for the information and suggestions both of you. I have no idea what it was that I did, but after trying loading from saved games, bypassing the launcher, loading autosaves. Something seems to have gone right. Things are working as they should. The help is / was appreciated. Pity to hear about Gymansiast, but things change, and we move on. :)

I've been unable to run OpenRCT2 whether from the launcher, or an autosave, or a save game. I have no idea if this is a windows 11 thing, or an OpenRCT2 thing. I have tried disabling anti-virus, and other intrusion s/w. I have made sure the game has access through the firewall. I have deleted and reinstalled the game. It updates fine, it's just that when I try to launch it, it pops the messages. when I try a saved game all I get is a BLACK screen, if I try an autosave I get a WHITE screen. It doesn't matter if the game is set for windowed or full screen. I have even gone so far as to create a GitHub account. The message box isn't clear (to me) how or where to upload the crash data it generates. This issue has gone from being an intermittent and annoying thing, to not allowing me access to the game. Please could a Dev or influential person let me know how I can get the requested files to whoever can help. The fact that I'm in Australia makes it difficult to get a quick turn around on any responses, since probably most here are either in Europe, UK, or US.

For the past couple of weeks, this hasn't been the case for me. I've been getting this myself at least a couple of times a day, and if I let it try and automatically send the report, it just tells me that it couldn't complete. Claiming that I may have an older build that isn't logged anymore (or something similar). It happens two or three times in a row, then all is fine. I then get told I can submit a report manually, but I suspect you'd need a GitHub log in for that (which I don't have). Windows wouldn't let me take a screenshot as it's "wheel" was still spinning, so I had to use my digital camera for these pics.

I do realise this, but this has only been a thing for the last few months, well after the new save format (used as a timeline measure). I had commented on this quite a while ago, and no responses, and it does occur without having all scenery options selected. Obviously it's not a major thing, but it makes finding scenery that much harder as the "?" tab has a huge amount of items in it, including items that were previously in other groups. Even not selecting custom scenery makes no difference. In my experiences even the basic, default bench and bin have been moved to the "?" tab, and not still in the "Objects For Paths" tab. Things seem to have gotten very jumbled at some point. This is why I have asked if there is a way for any player to move items from one group to another without breaking things.

Gday, Yes, this has unfortunately been a thing for a while now. The objects you're looking for probably aren't missing. I've found that scenery groups are messed up, and that objects missing from groups are almost always in the one with the question mark. This has made finding stuff a right royal pain in the backside. It's not a thing with any of the game's scenarios though, they all appear to have the correct items in the correct groups. In my own posts about it, I've asked if there is a (tedious or easy) to fix this, maybe by renaming individual items or something like that. But so far I've seen no responses from anybody about it. As far as I know, this has been a thing with custom scenarios for several months now. I know this doesn't help you with the problem, but at the very least you know you're not alone.

Today I found the message kept appearing, so I checked for updates on the plug-ins I use, and updated them all anyway. Looks like you were right, as after re-grabbing Benchwarmer the message has stopped. Even though that one hasn't been updated since mid last year. Obviously it had gotten corrupted. Things look to be fine currently. :)

Yes, I did try that, and the standard procedure of adding one at a time to see what happens. It's only been with the current park. I even considered if it might be something with custom scenery/rides, but I'm just using what is set for the particular scenario. In this case it's Gentle Glen. I'll keep trying different things if it still a thing today, and also after the next update.

Gday All, This has only been a thing as of today. Every 10 or so seconds I get an error message pop up. It doesn't appear to have any effect on gameplay. As far as I can tell it's not related to any of the mods I'm using -- Bench Warmer, Cheat Saver, Price Manager. Here's my current version -- OpenRCT2, v0.4.3-82-gd1ab1da (d1ab1da on develop) provided by GitHub Just thought I'd mention it, in case it's significant. Because this type of text is so small, and I can't find how to make it bigger, I had to take my glasses off and almost put my nose on the screen to read it.

As of .... just now .... new update, all good. Thanks peoples, you rock.

I literally just updated again, but it's still doing the same thing. <sigh> Guess no RCT tonight (my time) then.

As I don't have a Github account, I'm putting this file here. Game crashes on loading so I have no details of the version other than what's in this file, sorry. Hopefully the next time the game updates it'd all be fine again. da30f2d7-079e-41dc-90a5-3d991c62323f(0baacb2_x86-64).dmp.zip

Gday, It took me a few videos and quite a while to understand the how and why of block brakes. Personally, I don't like how they work (in game), but that's me. Wouldn't having variable block brakes defeat their design purpose and make them simply ... brakes ?

Welcome, it's people like you that make me feel very old. I was in my early thirties when Roller coaster Tycoon was released. As far as I know, yes, if you have the originals installed and point OpenRCT2 to them, all will be right with the world.

That version is now 5 years old. Versions since then will contain whatever was new in that, and a great deal more. Including the current save format.

Bug: Not able to save custom track design
ExCrafty replied to andy55699's topic in Problems, Bugs and Feedback
There have been a few posts about this, and the guys have said the same thing each time. The error message you get is correct, those track pieces can't be saved as yet. I believe they are working on it, along with just a few other things. I for one want to see them able to be saved also. But these things take time. I know that's not what you want to hear, but as you may already know, they're working on things as best they can. -
Thanks both of you for the help.

I've called them extreme because they are more than they would've been "back in the day". Some cheats have been used, but all are pretty much as they should be. I have been noticing that I'm reaching the scenario goal within the first few months, and with "early completion" enabled you can then just stuff around having fun. Evergreen Gardens is still one of my least favourite due to it having all that pathing already there, so guests get lost very easily. Dynamite Dunes is one of my favourites, mostly because there's no mowing required and there's so much potential. My parks would rarely be considered "beautiful" because I go for the rides more than scenery. Side note - The ones with no vegetation showing still have it all, but I made it invisible so the rides could be seen better. I knew it wasn't an official project, that's why I asked if the creator looks in here at all. I wasn't aware of where the updates were coming from though. Thanks for the additional info none the less. :)

Does anybody know if the creator of the launcher comes in these forums please ? Since occasionally the launcher doesn't launch the game, I was hoping to suggest maybe adding an option for it to launch with or without an update. I find launching straight from the game exe seems to start a bit differently, as if it's not seeing it's most recent successful update. Maybe a check box or button to check for updates, I have no idea how hard or easy things like that are. As I've said a few times before, I'm not even close to being a "coder".

I also have a park map specifically for "Attraction Design". That's how I tried out this coaster. And yes, I noticed that lift chains are on for any up slope track. I did say that this is all just my opinion, and isn't meant as a criticism of it. I did get a couple of track layouts where riders came to a complete stop almost right at the bottom of a slope, therefore causing no vehicles to finish a circuit.
-
Just saw this post, so went and had a look at this "coaster". No way to test the ride to see if a track design works or not. And the same as with Go Karts, you can't get any stats unless people get on the ride. For me, this is disappointing, as I like to make designs, test and save good ones for use later. This object also didn't appear in the "Objects Selection" listing for Rides and Attractions in the track design editor. I don't know how new this is since I haven't checked for a while. This is obviously just my opinion.

Changing the height of a pre-built coaster design?
ExCrafty replied to jez9999's topic in Guides, Tips and Tricks
One reason why you may not have been able to place a pre-built over elevated paths would be that it made the coaster "too high for supports" at some point in the track design. -
I've been playing RCT since it was released back in the early 2000s (I forget exactly when it was released). How the view is now is how it's always been, except now you can make the water opaque. As you can see in this screenshot, supports are visible by simply selecting "Transparent Water".
