  1. I love this idea very much! This is the kind of stuff that can push OpenRCT2 very ahead of RCT2. At the same time, however, this will need serious work. Maintaining the look and feel of the game's graphics while building the sprites will be something to look out for. Balancing the mechanics to feel natural will take some testing. And since this is essentially adding a previously non existent feature into the game, the coding work needed must be tremendous (atleast for the 'using specialty staff'). Since the game already has a cheat for speeding up all staff, making an individual feature to upgrade mechanics should only need to replace the mechanic sprite with a new sprite and allow him to go at the cheat speed. I do have a suggestion for the wages, though. I say make the upgrade cost a lot, then reduce the wage of the mechanic/handyman, since providing them these upgrades only makes their job easier, and hence must deem them worthy of less wages, lol. I urge the developers to consider this idea for the future. RCT3 does have some useful game mechanics that would be great additions to the RCT2 formula. As for the last part, I think @Broxzier has mentioned before that the amount of data stored for making 3X3 patrol squares is relatively less than what would be used if individual blocks were used to store that information, so I don't think this is going to be implemented any soon, if at all. [EDIT: Actual patrol tiles are 4X4 sized squares, my bad.]
  2. @X7123M3-256 That is exactly what I was talking about. Extracting specific sprite images from the base game files via this game itself, then implement them into the game. This is why I used "albeit with some more work". This is not exactly a task that will be easy, so I don't think this is a useful idea for the moment. Not at all a good idea. It's not really a big issue, so I don't even see any need to implement this in the first place. It's not really like asking for flat edges in slanted land like in RCT1, but it's still in the same ballpark.
  3. I don't think this is the case of changing the game's assets. Maybe allow sprites from RCT1 to be used in RCT2 by using the original's game files? I mean, you guys have done this before as well with the RCT1 title music, so it could be done for rides as well, albeit with some more work. I can't remember any more sprites that were different from RCT1, but the Restroom sure is one. Not really a high priority thing, tbh. There's a a lot more different things needed first in the game. This is a cosmetic change, and I believe these changes should probably be implemented only when sprite work for OpenRCT2 is done in the far future (like with OpenGFX for OpenTTD). BTW I didn't even know RCT1 has helmets for guests in Go-Karts
  4. Hold-click on the cheats button. There you go
  5. I like the rides a lot, but I personally like using a whole lot more scenery.
  6. I don't get it. Are you unable to set up a static IPv4 address? I know that most providers don't give a static one from the get-go, but setting up one shouldn't be impossible.
  7. @imlegos I've even reinstalled it several times . Each time I install it, it works fine for that specific moment, but the second I close the game and launcher, it forgets my PC ever had OpenRCT2.
  8. tbh I hate that launcher. It never ends up working, and treats my PC as if it doesn't have OpenRCT2 installed. When I want to download the latest build through it, it takes ages. It's collecting dust as of now. I downloaded the demo myself, and it seems build 74d96d8 does work for me. Download that one. If it still doesn't work, could you give some specifics on how you installed the demo etc? [Completely off topic, but are you the teacher of your class, or a student? If you are a teacher, then you are one awesome teacher I'll tell you that ]
  9. Same here! Hope to see you around more. Welcome to the forums
  10. @imlegos In fact, if there could be specific button on the top bar that specifically had Rules/Regulations in it, it would be awesome! Perhaps a '.txt' file that would ship with the server data to each client which could be linked to that specific button. But then again hard to do than it is to say, right?
  11. As much as that idea appeals immensely to me, I don't think it was a thing in RCT1 or 2. Could you be confusing the tables from RCT3 perhaps? I once confused the Advertising options from 3 of being there in 1 or 2. I was really sure lol
  12. Did friend B connect through the actual name of the server, or did he try connecting with the IP as well? A few days ago I tried connecting locally through the server name, and it didn't work. Instead, it worked by using the IP. What's to say that can't work the opposite way as well...
  13. I'm feeling these announcements of hosting servers is getting slightly unnecessary for a place like the forums. It's not going to be easy reading these in the future without some retrospective information. Why not announce servers in the chat or something? Even if you do make rules for your servers to let everyone see them, try to keep them consistent and relevant for the future. Or update them when important. This server seems to be a specific thing you're doing for today. Maybe make a fixed name for your server and post it's rules so everyone finds the post easy to follow .
  14. No problem! Glad I could be of help!
  15. You should try connecting to the IP instead. Have you tried that?
  16. chill bro. It's not like everyone of those people you mention will see these rules In fact, I'm sure a lot of them won't even know these forums exist .
  17. Seeing as these RCT1 scenarios are mere recreations/remakes, you can't really blame OpenRCT2 for the difficulty spike. Which scenario pack do you use, btw? The most balanced ones I've come across so far are these: https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/comments/1h93gx/more_exact_recreations_of_rct1_scenarios_for_rct2/ I haven't had a lot of challenge in doing these, but they felt natural and had a relatively fine difficulty. So far, none of these scenarios have more rain than I expected. You should definitely try them out . In any case, you can always change the weather from the cheats menu, or set a different climate from the Scenario Editor. Also, the game does have an option to unlock all prices. It's right in the cheats menu.
  18. That gives me an idea. It would be nice to allow playing multiplayer without an account. Just to prevent random griefing, though, add in an option while starting a server that doesn't allow 'anonymous' players. This would prevent stuff @YoloSweggLord witnessed. Another note; don't allow multiple usernames to exist (be it registered or unregistered). The name of this website does give out an official/affiliated vibe with the name "OpenRCT2 Forums" (just putting it out there )

@YoloSweggLord Hey, the 'Ivy' Nomenclature is my thing .
  20. I think the best way to go about it would be to merge this with the sign-in system. I always assumed this was gonna happen in the future, so implementation of this feature should be coming fast, I think.
  21. The idea is great! No idea how it could be implemented though. How do you explain what's on the table without actually thinking about the idea in the first place? Nonetheless, maybe have key points, like: Guest AI : Done Sprite Work : Work In Progress Track Design : Not Begun This might get annoying to update, though...
  22. To be honest, I guessed it would be tricky as well It really isn't. All I did was copy my entire PC Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 folder (installed) onto wherever I wanted, then opened up the latest build of OpenRCT2 I downloaded from here. When it asked for the RCT2 installation, I just directed it to that folder. I thought it would take something more than that, but it really didn't.
  23. This link is your friend: https://www.reddit.com/r/openrct2/comments/49sodo/tutorial_run_openrct2_on_a_mac_osx/ Welcome to the forums
  24. I'm sorry, I didn't know what Open Air xFinity was. I had to Google it just now. That's a free-WiFi project in the US, right? In that case, I'm not sure you can really do anything about it . (I almost recalled you from a recent session of OpenRCT2 .)
