  1. Seeing as you're using Wi-Fi, do you have access to the Router's IP from your computer? You need to allow the port you will use for hosting your server from withing the Router's settings, even after all the usual port allowing stuff. Try doing that. The default port used by OpenRCT2 is 11753. When you connect to a server, immediately check your ping from the Multiplayer window. High pings mean too much latency, and eventually that will disconnect you. Also, what is your current downloading/uploading speed? That should matter less, but do a speed test on that. On a Wi-Fi connection, get closer to the Router to get better performance. Do other devices use the same connection? If so, disconnect them from the network to get a better share of the overall speeds you should be getting I hope I was helpful!
  2. So Pirate has it's own style? I thought Fairground Organ Music was the only practical style in the game My bad.
  3. So I just realised like the title says, that the Pirate Theme from RCT2 is actually a rendition of the popular sea shanty and Irish folk song Drunken Sailor. Did everyone know about this?
  4. Hello and welcome! I guess it's not a surprise that new people are being introduced to an old a game whose origins lie in 1999 . I hope you enjoy your stay here! As a beginner tip, I'd recommend you download these parks right here: https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/comments/1h93gx/more_exact_recreations_of_rct1_scenarios_for_rct2/ RCT1 IMO had the most visually and strategically appealing empty parks of all. Work your way up the parks, and you'll learn things along the way . But most importantly, remember to have fun!
  5. I instantly regretted making those pictures, as I felt I over did them . This feature should definitely be client side and not for everyone, obviously, just like the Night Time feature. The only time this should even look remotely like I made them look should be at peak time in the night, with a Thunderstorm in full blaze. That is when the game is at it's dimmest. Also, talking about overlays, a sunset overlay (orange-ish tint) feature would be nice. That might over do the entire novelty feel of the original game, though. Sorry for the late replies, I didn't get any notifications at all...
  6. I don't know if this has been asked before, but as with music, it would be nice to see randomised title sequences. I don't mean generating new landscapes or anything, or even loading up savefiles. I'm talking about the title sequences that are already in the game, saved and everything; OpenRCT2, RCT2, RCT1(AA, LL) etc. As it stands, I don't think I see this option in the title sequence option.
  7. I don't think most people could get anything done efficiently with a joypad, because the game wasn't built considering the use of one. Also, I believe the Xbox version of RCT simply maps mouse controls to the stick, and you can do that with a third-party software these days now
  8. RCT1-Import is a different branch of the game builds. Develop is the main branch, I think.
  9. I'm not one to make masterpieces or anything, so this is not going to be much helpful, but here goes: Well, there's one thing I got to know about from these forums, and that is building trains/trams that overlap the roads. It looks pretty nifty and convenient . For that you just Disable Clearance Checks and that pretty much allows you to do it. My assumption over the River Rapids would be the same. As for the scenery, I just build the attraction first, hide said attraction and build scenery around it . Sometimes I feel like using the landscaping tool just to clear out edges or, make them more obvious. All I can say is, keep messing around with the scenery objects in game until you find out what looks good with what and when to use it .
  10. You... are... AWESSOOOOMME!!!!!!!!
  11. As @janisozaur said, try downloading the latest develop build and see if it happens again.
  12. This used to happen to me as well a few weeks back, and I topped the chain speed to the max as well. What worked for me was that I changed the overall track somewhat, reduced the number of cars and reduced the chain speed by one factor and that did the trick. This only happened to me in that one specific park, though. Perhaps you could try making a chair lift in another park and see if that one crashes too. [Edit: I topped the speed of that same chair lift that used to crash and it doesn't crash anymore You could try what I did.]
  13. That's one of the main reasons I really want this to be implemented into the game at some point
  14. Another thing I had in mind was applying lighting of different radius' for rain/thunder storm and simple night. The idea being that light appears more hazy in rain than normal. An example: I request that we use a unique lighting sprite for the three bulb lamp as here: Aww, man! This kind of thing could really seperate OpenRCT2 from Vanilla in visual terms!
  15. This concept has been put forward before by DoctorWaffles on the old forums (here's his issue on GitHub: https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/issues/1739), and I really liked that idea. Now, I know that this may never be possible to the extent I have it going in my mind, but I wanted to share how it would look like if it could be done. This is just a rudimentary example I've made, but I feel it's an interesting concept. What do you guys think?
  16. @RollerCoasterManiac Maybe make a Forrest Gump related ride!
  17. Sorry, but gonna have to agree with @xbalogan here. Following a form of blueprint takes out a huge chunk of the creative factor. Every turn would become a "Alright, who's gonna make that section of the park?". We could definitely find inspiration in that park. This would make a great project for another topic of itself, though .
  18. @imlegos You need to chill, man. Bad day?
  19. Also, I always think the way guest AI works is it builds up the guest's preferred ride intensity slowly through their course along the park. I tagged along to a guest once and his preferred ride intensity went from something like '4 and below' to a wonderful '9 and below'! This is why I always build Gentle rides at the entrance, then increase the ride intensity as I go further away from the Entrance. Now that I think about it, I do this because of Chris Sawyer's tutorial... Oh, and should we agree (if at all) on any custom rides we may wanna use? Information before hand might make this park more organised and 'real' than just going with the flow. I also have another suggestion. Can we not go for a mostly flat park? Flat parks are what RCT 2 is infamous for.
  20. Yep. Can confirm that this doesn't just affect roller coasters but pretty much anything that can take the highest radius turn and descend normally.
  21. Wow, thank you for that. I never actually used the debugging tools so this is going to be VERY helpful to me. Thank you Broxzier! Also, totally would agree with what Squab said. The way Group Park 2 is being built feels a little messy to me.
  22. Is there a way to currently edit the park to get more custom things into it(rides, scenery)? Shouldn't matter if it's possible only through a third-party application. I don't think we can, but if that can be done, I say let's start off with no CC and then as we feel that we can't work with the current list of rides and scenery, we'll use the bare essential CC rides(especially the flat ones) and scenery as well. Once nothing else can be done, if the park still doesn't feel done(which it probably will be by that point) we can add more rides. However I do feel Expansions shouldn't be the way to go. Expansions aren't going to be available to everyone out there, which might block out newer participants into this. CC is the best bet, which should still be used only when we have nothing else to do. For this we will need a list of the aforementioned "bare essentials" such as among the AmazingEarl flat rides, etc. Yep, just checked. RCT2(and hence OpenRCT2) can only change park parameters, so Save editing must be pretty much out of the window for now. Maybe very important CC can be voted for before we commence, I guess. Bah! My entire post became a moo point. Why did I even type this whole thing? I guess it was the weather... (P.S. - Sorry for those last two terrible references to Friends and GTA V. Won't happen again )
  23. Okay, so here's the park. The guest I'd named Test Subject 3 got so unhappy that he made up his mind to leave the park, so I got another guy in to the isolated corner. If they both want to leave the park, all I can suggest is do another trial. (Note: The isolated spot is in the corner which is nearest to the pond/lake in the park in case you can't find it.) Test Evergreen.sv6
  24. I've been closely watching this forum for a while now, and I felt that this is a good time to introduce myself as any! So hi, I guess! I noticed OpenRCT2 back in July 2015, and have been rekindling my flame for RollerCoaster Tycoon ever since. I've never really been a pro at this game, and I was pretty scared to make custom rides till now. I'm still trying to get the hang of it, though. The only proud thing I've made so far is an Evergreen Gardens. My sister played RCT in the year 2001 and since then I've loved it too! I have never loved a game any more than this one. Thank you all the fellow Devs for reviving this game with new life! This website has a great community!
