This is the version I am using: Version 0.3.4.1 (fd18ac7)
As for ExCrafty's comments, I can save the track design in a scenario with all the appropriate vehicle types and then try and build it in the same park immediately afterward and the vehicle type will change from what it should be saved as. It doesn't matter if the vehicle type is available in that park, it will build with another vehicle type if there are other available for that track type.
If I save a wooden coaster track with the standard wooden coaster trains and go to build it in a park that only has that ride vehicle available for wooden coasters, the custom track selection will still state in red that the vehicle is not available. However, in this case, the track when built would feature the correct vehicles since that is the only type available in that park.
But in other parks where multiple vehicle types are available for a track, the game keeps switching to a different vehicle type
Gday,
Oh, now I get what you mean, sorry, that to me does sound like something that shouldn't be happening. I've never had that sort of problem myself. So I'll shut up and go back to my corner.

When I try to save my custom track designs the ride vehicle type is not saving. For example, if I save an impulse coaster with the Barnstorming Trains, when I go to build, it says "vehicle design unavailable" in red when selecting the design. The vehicle type is available in that scenario...and when I go to build, the regular impulse trains are there instead.
The same happened with a wooden coaster design and depending on the scenario, the game will change the vehicle type to another wooden type, different from what it should be. I've seen it change to the stagecoach or articulated trains when it should just be the regular wooden coaster train.
This issue appears to only affect custom tracks that I have saved since updating to the latest version.
Gday,
If you're seeing the red text in the ride/track selection, then the vehicle type you saved with, did save. If the vehicle type isn't available at the time, then it'll give the red text. I'm not sure if I'm being clear or not, re-reading my comment, and it sounds confusing.
You could enable cheats, and then use the "Object Selection" option and select the particular vehicle you want. If that still doesn't work, it may be that that vehicle hasn't been "researched" yet in game.
I apologise if I'm confusing, I couldn't think of a clearer way to say this. :)

Yes, checked later myself, all I found was the "British Telephone Booth".

Isn't there a police box in the scenery already ? I'd have swarn I'd seen one (I'm probably wrong).

Yes, Windows 10 Pro. And it happens with any saved game I tried.
And with this very latest version -- OpenRCT2, v0.3.4.1 (9112044 on develop) provided by GitHub
It appears to be only the one save game. Which I've included here.

Gday, almost literaly just updated on launch. Tried 4 times to open a save game, but completely freezes and can't even alt-tab out. Only way out is to Ctrl-Alt-Del and restart. Because of this I managed to get the version info before trying again. Hope this is the right info.

I don't know any way to increase the speed through stations. Your best shot there might be to shorten the station (there are cheats to ignore the vehicle limits imposed by station size). For the water coaster you might be able to simulate the effect by adding chain lifts to the water pieces.
I found that cheat made a dramatic change to water rides, and any others that are either slow, or really slow down uphill. Instead of 1kph, they do 8kph.
You can't adjust THAT speed, but it's a vast improvement anyway.

First time I've put in scenery and really bothered with a theme. Obviously it's a "work in progress". Unfortunately the setting doesn't look anything like the real place. <shrug>.

Yes, tried more than once as well. It appears as though it's only meant to be used while sandbox is active. However once you put down the "road" you can turn off sandbox mode and what you did stays, but roads are no longer available in the paths menu.
Right now though the launcher doesn't appear to be working, so I'll wait for a while. I know you guys don't have anything to do with the launcher, so I usually don't mention it.

That's a lot of demands, maybe try less "want" and more "I would like". A little politeness goes a long way. If you have read any of the others posts about similar things, you would realise that things are being worked on. But since nobody is being payed to do all of this, it takes time. Most people here are in similar situations, we would all love more options, but most of use are being patient that it will happen when it happens.

I've done that also, to check that I wasn't giving the wrong info, but even after selecting it in the object selection, the "road" path still doesn't show in the path menu.
I'm confused now (not an unusual state for me).
-
Hmm, I'm honestly not sure on that. I'd have thought that if it's selected in the objects selection, then it's be available in-game. Maybe it's something that was done for that particular scenario by whoever created it originally. It's a VERY long time since I played any scenario, let alone that one.
Maybe if you enable sandbox mode, select it, then disable sandbox it'll work then ?
Somebody else may have a better idea.

One of the path types you can select from object selections is a road. You need to then do it as a double width path and it will put the white line down the middle.

I just made a zip file of some of my max land area parks. None are actually finished yet, though I've reached the limits under the current save system. If interested they can be grabbed and played around with to your heart's content. Because all I do mostly is play around with track designs, I have things set to "No Money", so it's all FREE !!!!

I agree, next to no area used on a sizeable map. Heaps of room for expansion. And yes, that's not really a "Mega" park, but a good start for sure.

I didn't understand what was said about it, but I see it's a "known issue". Thanks.

For the past couple of weeks I've had this issue. Not a huge thing for me, but note worthy. I hadn't mentioned it before just in case it went away with an update. It hasn't.
When you select an existing ride anywhere in a park, and switch to view the station, the view goes to one extreme corner of the map. I selected several coasters to highlight the issue. with their windows right near the ride itself.

Has been fixed in the meantime.
Yep, was just jumping on to say that.
Still, an impressive amount of negative G.
Thanks to all of you people for all the effort you have, do, and will put into something that's not getting you any cash.

I use that cheat regularly. I don't "appear" to have any problems. For example I have max station length of 32 tiles, and on an air-powered coaster I can have 92 cars before it's too long for the station. A lot of my designs have one train with the max amount of cars that will fit in the station. The only reason I don't do that with rides like the water ones, is purely that it "looks" wrong to me.
Just as a note .... Don't do that with the transport rides, as if you have them go up an incline, you'll get speeds of 1kph or less.
Same for the log flume, splash boats, and river rapids.

The compact inverted coaster appears to be one of these with a built-in intensity penalty/minimum. Does anybody know if that's the case ?
I built a coaster that doesn't go red for any stats, but still has an intensity above 10. It's not a coaster I could link here as it's custom for the landscape it's on.
Thanks in advance.

I haven't tried it again since your post above, but last night (my time) I was having freezing issues, where I'd make a track, and while trying to place scenery, the game would freeze, and I couldn't alt-tab to any other windows including the error message. If it happens again I'll try to get a screen shot with the error box and include the version number.
Custom track not saving vehicle type

I got a similar occurrence tonight. A LIM coaster that was made with the standard trains. When opened in a game it displayed the message saying that the ride would use a different vehicle, and when placed in game, it warned me that stats may change for that reason. Here's some screenshots including one that should have the version visible. The placed ride did use the correct trains, but I find it weird that it claimed otherwise.
