MotogRice
I opened up the OpenRCT2 Launcher to be informed that there was a problem with the site's security certificate. I couldnt load the application. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the launcher, but upon trying to install the launcher again, I get redirected to a page with this message: "The owner of openrct.net has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website." I'm not sure why this is happening, as the launcher has worked just fine before. Anyone know what the problem could be? Link to comment
CharlieP
Mine to, it said the certificate expired at 1:37PM central daylight time. Link to comment
jensj12
The openrct.net website doesn't exist anymore. The launcher will get an update sometime to connect to this website. When? I don't know. Link to comment
imlegos
The licensing on .net has expired. The launcher should still work fine, just bringing up your primary internet browser every time you launch the launcher. Link to comment
jensj12
It can't get any more updates through the launcher (changing to stable keeps me on the dev build I have now, 4149bcd). Downloading the launcher from this website gives security warning (points to .net website). https://github.com/PFCKrutonium/OpenRCT2Launcher/issues/84 Edited April 26, 2016 by jensj12 Link to comment
GingerAdonis
You guys should consider to use this launcher instead: https://github.com/LRFLEW/OpenRCT2Launcher/releases/latest Link to comment
ziscor
@JarnoVgr Thank you for that! [EDIT: Too bad it needs Visual Studio's 2015 version. That never installs correctly on my Windows 7. ] Edited April 26, 2016 by ziscor Link to comment
Broxzier
You shouldn't need VS for this, just download the installer or the zip for Windows. Link to comment
ziscor
It requires a file that VS 2015 has. Also, the file in question happens to come along in a windows update, but I can't update my computer (reasons). Edited April 26, 2016 by ziscor Link to comment
Broxzier
Maybe try reinstalling from Windows 7 SP1 and see if that solves your update problem. Updates should never not work, they're needed to keep your system secure, as well as adding support for newer programs. Link to comment

It's common for updates to break things older then it. Look at things like Sim City 2k and Streets. (Probably not a good example...) Link to comment
Broxzier
Since Windows Vista there's a compatibility mode for executables, which I never had many problems with. It's pretty much needed for RCT2 to run properly on newer machines. Link to comment
imlegos
But no mater what, you can't install a game like Sim City 2000 anymore, the installer just doesn't load. Link to comment
jensj12
The new launcher works, but it soesn't have the 'ask before update' option. Shouldn't cause too much trouble if it isn't as unstable as the old one with bad internet. I can still run RCT1 made for win 95/98. Installers have an option for all kinds of compatibility modes too. But still, it sometimes just fails. Is it possible to manually install the missing files without updating / installing VS? I've done that for some games too that wanted a file that was removed after winXP. Link to comment
imlegos
It's not even giving an error. It just out-right doesn't load the installer. The only way I could install SC2K was using a 3rd party program, the problem with this is that saving crashes the game. And this has gotten really off topic. Link to comment
MotogRice
@JarnoVgr Thanks for the alternate launcher, but I cant get the thing to run. pressing play brings up the command prompt, but nothing else. Im using a Windows 10 and tried the win.exe version, and I didn't touch the options tab either. Did I do something wrong? Link to comment
ziscor
@jensj12 The file it needs is probably linked to another file, because I used to download .dll files all the time when they were needed, and in this case the launcher immediately shows that the file I downloaded is not showing certain things in it's dynamic link library. I'll try updating once again, but I think I'll just stick to downloading builds manually. Link to comment
Broxzier
@MotogRice: Make sure the launcher knows the path of RCT2, try setting it in the options. Link to comment
Kevdog3700
I had this happen to be yesterday. I just installed the multi platform launcher and that solved my issues Link to comment
MotogRice
Well, upon the 3rd reinstallation the launcher is working... I'm not sure what fixed it, but I'm glad I can get back to playing OpenRCT now, thanks for the help! Link to comment
Millionaire2K
What do I need to do? I'm confused. I has the launcher installed for a while no with no issues. I have it set to give me stable builds only. Now I get an error starting launcher "Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate." Link to comment

The launcher itself is pretty much broken now, it won't download new builds for you. Here's one that is working and is meant as replacement for the old, broken launcher: On 26-4-2016 at 17:49, JarnoVgr said: You guys should consider to use this launcher instead: https://github.com/LRFLEW/OpenRCT2Launcher/releases/latest Link to comment
