  1. Granted, now all the water rides have leaks and you have to assign a permanent mechanic to fix them and a handyman to mop the water. I wish I was a better woodie coaster designer.
  2. @X7123M3-256 these are fantastic, both sets. Posting them?
  3. I bought RCT3 when it came out. I thought it would be a expanded version of RCT2, sort of like RCT2 was to RCT1. Boy was I not a happy camper. The thought of basically re-learning everything had learned stopped me in my tracks. Some of the features were pretty cool like riding your own creations. I think I messed with it maybe? three times and returned to RCT2 and started downloading others' scenarios and learning how to expand my RCT2 abilities in constructing parks. Think how much RCT2 is out there both from the standpoint of those of us addicted to this game, all of the many and diverse parks that have been created and the thousands of rides and scenery pieces that have been created by hundreds of very talented players not to mention the considerable work already done by the devs (kudos to them) on ORCT2 and the future possibilities of this game, why would you want to dump it and start over.
  4. Granted, and when we all have one wee won't have to wory bout tiping sentces theyll do ittttt 4 us. I wish for a ton of snow this winter so I don't have to go to work and can stay home a play ORCT!
  5. I wish spell checker had never been invented and the person who invented it choke on his sugar pops!
  6. I would like to take this time to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. It is a time to pause and reflect on the many freedoms and opportunities we all have. Having only been a member since March, I have enjoyed reading and interacting with all of you (learned a thing or two too) while on the forum. May all of you have a great time with your families on this holiday!
  7. Granted, but Dick becomes supreme ruler, marries Jane and bans the use of the letter "J" as the first letter of any name. All names now must start with the letters "Q", "X" or "Z".
  8. Thanks @Broxzier I'll try that out tomorrow.
  9. I have found like @jensj12 said once a park is rolling it is easy to make lots of cash. My secret (don't tell anyone) is build several small coasters like steel mouse, wood mouse, inverted shuttle and a "themed" ghost train and charge $5 ($4 for ghost train) also the bellies either up or down (or both or multiples of different heights) @ $4 are great money makers that produce quick ride turnaround times. As money accumulates then build a large woodie of steelie charging $5 and lower the other coasters to $4.50 or so IF ridership declines. My all time high among RCT scenarios is Canary Mines when in 3 years I had a high monthly ticket sales of $20,787 and cash in bank at $121,526. That particular game had 2,374 guests in park but park rating was only 843 (to crowded by 97 guests). Also include as many food stalls as possible and continue building them. The profit in them is great. Watch your financial page and see how they do make a difference.
  10. Having played these games since they came out and now ORCT I never remember having "TOO CROWDED" come up with as many guests thoughts as often as it seems to. I have tried single paths, straight paths that go in a circular manner, and double width paths. So, I decided to make a stat comparison of results from all three games. I took two finished RCT games and converted them to both RCT2 and OpenRCT2. First of all let me say that each scenario had EXACTLY the same rides and shops using the same fees. The time period was the same - 3 years. The only difference was that in one RCT game an admission was charged, but that didn't figure into the stats. I wasn't looking at money as you can't compare RCT with the newer versions. Here's what I found. Guests in park Total Admissions Rating # of guests saying to crowded # wanting to go home RCT-Three Monkees 2,089 4,362 48% 999 19 0.9% of 2089 8 0.3% of 2089 RCT2 2,071 3516 58% 580 212 10.2% 77 3.7% OpenRCT2 1,787 2,601 68% 420 284 15.8% 125 6.9% RCT - Thunder Rocks 2,234 4,665 48% 999 18 0.8% 11 0.5% RCT2 2,087 5,016 41% 420 624 29.8% 141 6.7% OpenRCT2 2,280 6,102 37% 000 685 30.0% 177 7.7% It seems strange to me that RCT2 and ORCT have such a problem with being too crowded. To me it means that while playing the original scenarios of RCT in ORCT it will be very difficult to beat even the original goals because the rating is directly controlled by the guests' negative thoughts. I have tried 3 other RCT scenarios using ORCT and have had similar results. Granted in both of these, I exceeded the goal of # of guests for each game for the given time period, but in both RCT2 and ORCT the scenarios were not win able. The only way I could win either scenario played in ORCT was to constantly use cheats to increase "Happiness" to max every day for the last 2 months. How with that said I don't expect the scenarios to be too easy, in fact in the ones I create the goals are damn hard to reach. One thing I have noticed is that I have never (not yet anyway) seen "I am not paying that much..." and I have charged as much as $10.00 for a coaster! All comments are welcome.
  11. First select the wrench in the options menu and see if "Automatically place staff" is checked. It is NOT checked by default. Second if you don't place a staff member either automatically or by tweezers the game will not let you deal with another staff member until the first one is on the grounds. Try booting up a game on your own and see if the problem occurs after checking the options menu setting. If it does post a copy of the game and let us take a look at it. My first hunch is that it won't happen to a stand-alone game.
  12. I have read all the comments about transport rides not being worth their while, peeps won't ride them for transport purposes etc. Well I took on that challenge to see if I could build a park and get the most from a transport ride. I think I did it. "Hot Air Balloons" in my park North Hampton Oaks has the following stats after 3 years. Total Customers - 9,556 (twice any other ride), Total profit - $24, 522 (more than any coaster), Income - $11,736/hr (4th), Customers per hour - 3,912 (3rd) and lastly guests favorite - 370 out of 3,010 guests (that's better than 10%). I don't build my parks to cram as much in the park as possible and I am not one for building them as contest winners. I don't believe that was the original intent of the game. I think it was to be a thinking and planning game. I build mine as a normal park (which I visited over 35 in my life) would be constructed with a combination of rides, games and shops scattered throughout the park. Many of the rides in this park were pre-built which were then modified and scenery added by me. I am not asking for anyone to critique my park. I should explain that my enjoyment comes from constructing a landscape, adding which rides I want in this park, which rides are at the start and which ones have to be researched. Setting up the goal and then playing the game to achieve that goal. I should also mention that the original landscape design was not mine. I am not sure where I got it from but I liked it, cleared of everything and started from there. The only cheat (I try not to use them) used was in the original construction of Hot Air Balloons. It and the main info desk were the only rides in the park at the onset. The HAB station at the entrance was the only station when the park opened, the others added later as the park expanded. Enclosed is a copy and some pics. 335C - North Hampton Oaks.sv6
  13. I don't understand what you were copying. OpenRCT2 uses the vanilla RCT2 game to operate including the scenarios, saved, tracks, landscapes and objdata folders. The object folder under OpenRCT2 will pick up any new dats that it comes across. There is no need to copy your old RCT2 folder to the new, and yes you may have overwritten files in OpenRCT2. My suggestion is to leave your vanilla RCT2 folders alone, delete your OpenRCT2 folders and re-install OpenRCT2. Any NEW scenarios you create, saved games, and track designs using OpenRCT2 will appear in the OpenRCT2 folders and not in the vanilla RCT2 folders.
  14. I have found your problem. Your ride exits don't fully connect to the path. I had this same problem. Compare the exits at the ferris wheel and space rings. Notice the path leading to the exit of the ferris wheel has a small tab pointing at the exit and the path to space rings does not. If you open your path tool and place a path on top of the one at the exit to space rings you will see the change. In its current state the old path was connected to allow peeps to exit the ride but it doesn't allow mechanics access. This is something that has changed from previous versions. When you place a new ride ALWAYS place a new path at its exit. PS: I would add at least 2 more mechanics, they not only fix rides they also perform maintenance based on what schedule you have set up (default is 30 mins).
  15. That's not the way it works. Picking up and moving resets his objectives. My suggestion if you are trying to "hurry" him up is to go to the cheat menu (Shovel) page 3 (Entrance) and set the staff speed to fast. You can always change it back if you choose. The other option is to assign areas to keep your mechanics in just like you do for your handymen.
  16. Post the park and let someone look at it, please.
  17. @zaxcav That explains the problem. I am not a programmer, but I do understand the process. My computer programming training in college was done using punch cards (70's). I am taking a class at our local Jr college on programming (I am older that any 3 people combined) and learning.
  18. The default folder is the "c:\......\OpenRCT2\Save " folder. This is folder I would save my games to. The other"System Dialog Window" takes you to which ever folder outside the game you opened last. Use it if you are looking for let's say something from your Download Folder. In that mode you can then search around to find what you are looking for and select it. After selecting the file you will need to click on the OpenRCT2 icon in your lower tray and re-open the working program. One thing I always do when saving a game is I NEVER select "Save Game", I always select "Save Game as", then "New File" . That way you will see the name of the file and let's say you are building a park, you can then put a suffix at the file's end like "Test Game", "Test Game a", etc.
  19. Did some more experimenting and found something interesting. In the mechanics2 zip ride Purple Challenge was a saved ride which was placed with its exit exactly on the pre-existing path. The connection was good because the ride functioned properly with peeps entering and exiting ok. After reading @zaxcav and @imlegos discussion, I placed a NEW path on top of the existing exit path and the mechanic found and fixed the ride. Somewhere in the last month there has been a change with something to cause this because I haven't played any games since September 28 and those worked just fine.
  20. I already opened a ticket as I have another park with the same problem. Both parks had their entrances and exits this ride rotated using the tile inspector. After doing so you MUST reconnect any path to the respective entrance or exit or the peeps won't enter. This problem didn't surface until the third ride had tile changes. mechanics.zip mechanics2.zip

    Pocket Money

I read/heard this somewhere that the first time you set a price for a photo that all others will charge that amount regardless of whether the checkbox is marked or not or what their price is set for. Also changing that first photo changes all the others. I don't know how you could actually check this unless you multiplied the total photos purchased by the cost per photo.
  22. I believe opening them up using the Editor will clear all the rides and shops leaving just the landscape.

    Pocket Money

The problem many have when setting up a new park from scratch and using Pay for Entry is that they don't initially give the peeps enough money. So when the entrance fee has to be raised high enough to raise money to construct rides to draw more into the park the peeps can't afford to enter. And if you can't get more into the park and the goal is getting X number of peeps by a certain date you basically FUBAR yourself. Getting the right mix of initial peep money, setting the scenario goal and ride content needs to be thought out. Experience is the only teacher on how to do this. Don't be afraid to build small inexpensive coasters at the start and as funds become available tear them down and build larger ones. The other, although not quite a difficult is one which uses no money. Setting up the order the rides are presented thru research can make or break you ability to reach the goal.
  24. Will someone download this park and tell me if they have the same issue?
