Gymnasiast Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 You need to put it into the Steam window itself, in the Console tab. You put it in the Terminal, which is the wrong place.

I've attempted a more streamlined tutorial below, which has worked for me numerous times. I hope you find it helpful! Here we go: http://openrct2.org/downloads Install OpenRCT2 for Mac. Unpack the zip file. An application will appear, move into your "Applications" folder. I like to just rename it RCT2. http://store.steampowered.com/ Install Steam (green button at the top of the page). After you've installed the app and have created a profile, purchase RCT in the app. You'll need to open a "Console" tab in Steam that isn't normally there. To do this, search for the "Terminal" application on your Mac. Or, you can easily find it by going to the Applications Folder in a new Finder window- it will be inside the "Utilities" subfolder. Once you have Terminal open, copy and paste: /Applications/Steam.app/Contents/MacOS/steam_osx -console Typically you don't need to press enter... once you paste, it should do it's thing- it will run the Steam App again, and this time you'll see "Console" as the fifth tab at the top, after your username. In the Console tab, enter: download_depot 285330 285331 When the download is complete, you should get something like this: Depot download complete : "/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS\steamapps\content\app_285330\depot_285331" (2525 files, manifest 6046146891100703072) You need the section within the quotation marks. Notice how after "MacOS" the slashes change from "/" to "\". Click over to your desktop, so the top nav bar on your screen says "Finder". Select "Go", then "Go to Folder" from the drop down menu. Paste your file path that you received from Console, while also changing all your "\"s to "/"s. In this case, you would paste: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/steamapps/content/app_285330/depot_285331 Your finder window should have pulled up a folder called "depot_285331". It's about 1.1 GB and has a bunch of folders in it. Copy the entire folder, and paste it into your Applications folder. I like to rename mine RCT2 to match the app from Step 2. Run your RCT2 app! The game will ask you where it's supposed to find the files for you to play this game. In the dialog box, direct it to Applications > RCT2 (folder). Ive gotten to step 8 but I cannot get RCT2 to run. I have copied the files to my applications, where do I try and run it from? Steam (when i go into steam it just has the install button but I cannot install it) The app I downloaded in step one (this says "“OpenRCT2” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.")? IM ALMOST THERE!!! Edited February 8, 2021 by negativephoto07
Gymnasiast Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) You don't need to _install_ RCT2 in Steam, just downloading was enough. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. It should have a button "Open anyway" or something like that. Click that to run OpenRCT2. Edited February 9, 2021 by Gymnasiast

Dave93 Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 (edited) Hi Everyone, just got RCT2 Triple Thrill via GOG, and i'm trying to install it with Innoextract, but I'm not very expert with terminal and more. I read on this topic that, if you have a Windows computer, you can install RCT2 on that and then copy the folder from windows to a mac. Can i do it now or is this an older method that doesn't work anymore? I've a Windows PC, but i want play on mac. In case the answer is yes, where i can find the install folder on pc? Thank you everyone. Sorry for my bad english EDIT: Solved, now run on my mac! I've just copied the folder form windows to mac and used ORCT2 Edited November 23, 2023 by Dave93
AaronHunter Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 (edited) That's great that you were able to solve the problem! And yes, copying the install folder from Windows to Mac is a pretty common method for many games. To help other users who may encounter a similar situation, here's the answer, with https://bo3.gg/valorant/matches/current Edited December 18, 2023 by AaronHunter
hardboiledgargoyle Posted April 25 Posted April 25 (edited) I just followed all the steps and it worked amazing! I bought RCT1 on steam too and want to do the "path to RTC1 installation" in OpenRTC. Can anyone recommend how to get that out of Steam? Is it simply a different download_depot number once I'm in the console tab of Steam? Any help is greatly appreciated. So where do I go from here? Even though I bought the game but can't download it, I need to download it through another way? Follow the instructions from Jennyfahhh but replace the numbers in step 6 with 285310 285311. These numbers can be found here by searching for the specific game. https://steamdb.info/app/285310/depots/
