imlegos
Hello, this is the new topic I've created to talk about a theme i thought of based on the Portal games. Feel free to post some ideas of what i should do with it in here. Mini Intelligence Incinerators for trash cans (Empty = P1, Vandalized = P2, full = ???) Animated portals (doors) for small tracks and Junior Still portal wall for Zero Clearance onto paths and large tracks (Both portals are color able, for easily making basic, Atlas, or P-Body portals) Link to comment
Wuis
All the kind of turrets as scenery, companion cube as scenery. office windows walls, black surface wall, white walls for portals...ehm we could go on for ages! Â But cool idea. Link to comment
ledust
I had this idea before you  hehe it would be cool Link to comment
imlegos
Too bad the NED object designer thing isin't working for me. Link to comment

Too bad I can't draw/model 😂 The idea is indeed super cool  We'd be able to remake the whole Aperture laboratories  Don't forget the 1970's styles Link to comment
imlegos
I'd primarily start with reconstructed Aperture (Portal 2 main design) and maybe add some run-down and old objects after i finish the main set. If it worked. Â Link to comment
Jhonny
That SOUNDS SICK THAT IS AWSOME good luck Link to comment
imlegos
Like I said, I don't quite have the ability to do it. If I did I would totally start it. Link to comment

imlegos
No, there was no inspiration I just thought that "The Aperture Science High Speed Amusement Test" would be a cool idea. Link to comment
YoloSweggLord
You have got to be kidding me... did you just put the Aperture Science Edgeless Safety Weighted Merry-Go-Round onto the Aperture Science Ride Mode We-Don't-Know-What-It-Does and open it without testing? This is Aperture Science Laboratories. Opening it IS testing. Link to comment
imlegos
. . . I really need to figure out how to get that scenery tool to work. And then find a good, probably free, program to model with, if that's necessary. Edited December 20, 2016 by imlegos Link to comment
X7123M3-256
I find Blender is good for modelling. Link to comment
YoloSweggLord
Simon Foster (the graphic designer of RCT 1&2) used Autodesk 3D Studio Max, but that's probably too expensive for you. Link to comment
imlegos
I don't have money to spend on anything. So, preferably a free 3d modeling program. Â Also, I know who Simon Foster is, I'm pretty sure anyone with even a little interest in making custom content knows who he is. Edited December 20, 2016 by imlegos Link to comment
Broxzier
@YoloSweggLord I've never head of Simon Foster using 3ds Max before, where did you get that from? At this page it clearly states he's used different software: http://www.chrissawyergames.com/faq3.htm Link to comment
X7123M3-256
It's mentioned at the start of this video. 1 1 Link to comment

Tune
A portal theme sounds really fun. Imagine building test chambers and having guests and rides going through them. I do have some experience in graphical design so I'd love to help out. It's been a while since I used 3d modeling though, but isn't it also possible to create scenery by making sprites? The ease of doing so depends on the object you want to create. Small scenery and walls are often drawn by hand, large scenery or animated scenery might be a bit harder. Getting the different view angles consistent with each other may be difficult if your geometry is complex, even if you only need a few images. 1 Link to comment
imlegos
Guess I sorta forgot about this, maybe I'll try and see if I can get the object creator running again... Link to comment
Broxzier
In case anyone needs it: RCT2objectEditorTest123d.exe 1 Link to comment
Tune
Well I tried making a Portal turret in RCT, but it still looks pretty ugly. I used the Half-Life Model Viewer to open the turret model and then made a screenshot of the right angles and converted those into bmp files with Photoshop. I'm not sure what the best way is to safe the file in Photoshop so importing it into the ObjectEditor won't ruin it by compressing it. 2 1 Link to comment
