I tend to allow such content with the intention that it would help keep the trolls/immature people out of the more serious servers.

I think that’s a good point - it might provide an outlet for them and take the heat off other servers. If all the tasteless stuff is mostly concentrated in one server, it should also be better for everyone - the trolls/immature people get their server, the “normal” users get the other servers. Simply removing the WTF server from the list is not going to cause the trolls to leave - they will just stalk other servers and I think that’s not what the OP (or most people) wants anyway.

I would also like to thank you for replying. I prefer dialogue and negotiation to simply laying down rules (except as a last resort).

  2. Custom objects are packed with the save (although I think this is currently broken for music objects), so you should keep in mind your saves will get quite big.

At some point, we want to add more formats to make this kind of thing easier.

  3. Yeah, we briefly raised it to v10.14 before, but then someone found a way to compile it for v10.13 as well. This time around, though, especially with the infrastructure needed to compile on Big Sur and for ARM, we weren’t so lucky.

I could upgrade to Catalina, but I don't really see the point especially as High Sierra is the highest version common to all my devices.  And I don't want to lose 32-bit support.

Current OpenRCT2 versions will still work on Mojave (10.14), which still had 32-bit support. (From your post, I couldn’t quite tell if you were aware of that.)

  4. Apple tends to be quite late introducing new C++ features, and since we needed some of them we had to require a certain version of their compiler, which in turn only works on macOS 10.14 and later. The last release of OpenRCT2 that will work on your system is v0.3.4.1. You can download that version here (it won’t auto-update, so it will continue to work indefinitely): https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/releases/download/v0.3.4/OpenRCT2-0.3.4-macos-x86-64.zip

There's a cheat for that (you may need to enable cheats from the options menu first). In the future it will also become a normal scenario option.

It became a normal scenario option a few years ago.

Related but the opposite, is there a way in openrct2 to disable charging for both rides and entry so it is one or the other? In the original scenarios it started off that you can charge for entry and rides, but i would like to only charge for entry. Is there a way to turn the rides free without having to do this for every single ride I put down?

Enable the cheats menu, then click the golden shovel -> Scenario Options -> Third tab -> Change the option.

X7123M3-256 rightly points out that OpenRCT2 seems to be in clear violation of the original RCT2 EULA, even if the original files need to be supplied. I've looked into this issue on other sites and forums. The responses I saw were very dubious.

Also, I recently found the page on this site that provides the instructions and download link of the RCT2 demo to use in OpenRCT2, to "enjoy the full experience" without having to purchase the game at all. If I'm honest, this soured my enthusiasm and interest in the project.

Maybe I've misunderstood somehow? I'd appreciate it if anyone can fill me in on more. OpenRCT2 looks like a great tribute to RCT and a fantastic way to play, but because of these above issues, I won't be doing so at this point.

EULAs (or any contract) cannot take away rights you legally have. It should be noted that Atari itself is fully aware of our existence, and has endorsed it by 1) using it in their streams, and 2) allowing GOG to offer a bundle OpenRCT2 with RCT2. It’s hardly surprising, as OpenRCT2 has driven the sales of RCT2 a lot - many people bought RCT2 on Steam or GOG because they lost their originals discs or didn’t have a convenient way of reading them.

About the demo: I’m not happy about it either, but please note that this is not an official site, but one made by a fan, and we have extremely limited control over what goes on it. The official site is openrct2.io. We (the devs) never link to it from our Discord or the Reddit (and any posts linking to it get removed).
