Can I Use the Steam Version of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2?

So, for the past few days, me and my father have been trying to find his old copy of RCT2 and we haven't found anything yet.
I'm planning on just trying to buy it on Steam and I was wondering if the Steam version of RCT2 would work with the mod?
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yup, it will work fine with that.

So far, it has worked with every edition I tried, even with some rare/unusual versions.

Sorry for posting under your post, but when I try to find the folder where my RCT2 is installed and click on it it says it can't find the data? While it's 100% the file where my RCT2 is installed

it's D:\downloads\steamapps\common\Rollercoaster tycoon deluxe 

is what I'm selecting but after I select that I get: could not find D:\downloads\steamapps\common\Rollercoaster tycoon deluxe\Data\g1. dat at this path. tried looking for g1. dat myself but couldn't find it

Are you sure that's RCT2 and not RCT1?

That's an RCT1 path.
