Bartez007 Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Hi all, Super fan of the series and have even been playing them on my phone before coming across openrct2, shame on me! However after downloading the game from gog and using play on Mac to extract the files I have been unsuccessful in getting openrct2 to work as I keep linking it to the wrong file. Would there be someone in the Wonderfull community able to help me out/point me in the right direction?
jensj12 Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 You need to point OpenRCT2 to directory. That directory should contain the folder 'data' which should contain 'g1.dat'. If that doesn't help, can you post a screenshot of the directory you're pointing OpenRCT2 at?
Bartez007 Posted April 11, 2019 Author Posted April 11, 2019 guess I am getting lost when it comes to the directory. I have included a screenshot of the files hidden in the library folder
jensj12 Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Except for the window title, I don't see any sign of RCT2 on that screenshot. Where do you have the files from RCT2 (not OpenRCT2) on your computer? The folder you need to select probably has 'RollerCoasterTycoon 2' in its name. Someone with more knowledge of GoG on a Mac (I have steam/disk + windows) might be able to tell you exactly where to find it.
Bartez007 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 I redownloaded the data from gog.com and I have now been able to extract the below. unfortunately I can only post twice a day 😅 I used wine this time around and seemed to get more out of it. the set up tutorial on the website kinda throws me off. Again, any help is very greatly appreciated
daniandthedalek Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I use these instructions when I install. For me, it's a lot easier than Wine, but does require you to use terminal/homebrew. 1
Bartez007 Posted April 15, 2019 Author Posted April 15, 2019 Thank you so much, getting through all the steps with ease. However there is an error that keeps popping up. I have asked the reddit for further assistance Thanks all again for the support
