Kind of a noob here, but...

Can someone make a detailed guide on how to create a server and have friends join it? We've tried a lot of things, and looked up instructions, but didn't find anything useful.

 

(Also sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum or something, this was just the most fitting place I could find to put this)

You could try the following thread. You don't have to follow every step, since I assume you only want to run one server, but it does explain some essential things, like port forwarding.

Thanks for the help, took me a while to find the port forward settings, but I found them, and while I haven't tested it yet, I think it should work.

For checking port connectivity, try this site. Make sure whoever will be hosting is actually running the server at the time, or I think it will show as an error. If you're hosting and this shows an error, it means that the port isn't opened.
