tydog98 Posted December 30, 2021 Share Posted December 30, 2021 I do not understand why the GOG version is *strongly* recommended for Linux users. Extracting the game files from the GOG version requires either Wine or another external program. The Steam version only requires that you install the game. Also, why do the installation instructions for Fedora not use the COPR repo? The Ubuntu instructions install from the PPA, which is essentially the same. It does not make sense for the Fedora instructions to build from source while the Ubuntu ones don't. Link to comment
Gymnasiast Posted December 30, 2021 Share Posted December 30, 2021 The GOG version can be extracted by the game itself (provided innoextract is installed, which is included with the flatpak builds). Also, until pushing Proton, it was very involved to install Windows-only games on Steam under Linux, requiring one to start up Steam in console mode and issue several commands.
