Keep message displayed when mouse is over message display

Sometimes I find that the message display does not give me enough time to read my messages. Like if im busy editing a path and a message pops up when I hover my mouse over the message I would like it to stay on the screen so I have time to read. And when i mouse off the message disappears after a few seconds. A feature like this would make my life so much easier instead of having to just open up another window on my already full of windows screen just to see the message that I missed.
