  1. Yes. My typo. They are td6 files. Did you go to the rctgo website and download one of the td6 files and try to install it? I cannot make any of the TD6 files work on openRCT even if they clearly indicate that they require only the vanila RCT2. Again, most sorry for the typo and thank for pointing it out.
  2. Hi all, I mentioned this in a thread below - but there were many questions in that thread so I decided to make a new thread with one, specific question. So if you go to the RCTgo website and download the Black Spirax(for example) ride for RCT (which has no custom scenery and requires no expansion packs) and take this file and then place it in the documents/openrct/tracks folder and then run openrct this ride will not show up in the ride designed or the design manager lists. If I try to import the ride via the manager, the ride shows up in the install list, but when I select it and click install, I see the following: A dialog box appear asking me to select a new name because this name already exists in the list (even though it does *not* show up in the list of rides to be opend in the designer. So I make a new name and click okay./confirm. Then I see a message that states "Can't save track design..." I get this for every td6 file i have tried to load into OpenRCT from this site or any other site. I am missing a critical step - but I cannot figure out what it is. Help?
  3. hi all, I came across a detailed essay that explained the theory of park value. In this essay is clearly suggests that having duplicate rides is very detrimental to park value. However, I have the following questions: 1) does this mean only one of each class of ride? or can I build one of each design within a class of ride in a park before getting the duplicate ride penalty. 2) How does this work when you have very limited classes of rides available? 3) I often see examples of parks where multiples of the same ride appear to have been placed. Is there a trick to avoiding the penalty, or is this somethign really only to be avoided where one of the scenarios goals is to reach a certain park value. I ask this because I am in a scenario where I have to reach $300,000 park value and I am currently capped out at $284,000. I have one of each class of ride, and in some cases multiple designs of the same class of ride (which I had done before I read the article mentioned above). So now I am wondering if I should demolish the duplicates within class or what else I can ry. I have lowerd the prices on the rides to get more ridership, but I seem to have long ques at all rides so I think ridership is near max. So not sure of next steps.
  4. I have tried copying the tr6 files to the location mentioned above. If I try to add one of the rides, it says it cannot save the file, even if I give it a new name. It seems like it should be so very straight forward, but I cannot just copy tr6 files into a directory and access them in OpenRCT or RCT2. I am very puzzled.
  5. Thank you. I will try placing them in the other location and see if that helps.
  6. Can you please help me out here a bit more. I just went through all of the options under the options tab in the upper right -hand corner in OpenRCT and there is no option for selecting the path to RCT2. There is an option for selecting the path to RCT1. Thanks for the help
  7. I first bought the version for the Ipad and was so impressed (I love tycoon games and thought that the transport tycoon port to the ipad left much to be desired over the PC version. I was so impressed with the IPad port of RCT (i remember when these games were first released and I was at university) - but I never played them as Sim City had its hooks in my at that time. I have since purchased the GOG version of RCT2 and added all of the RCT content to it and am now trying out OpenRCT. I find that there are somethings I like on the Ipad better and somethings I like in OpenRCT better. I find locating people, seeing making certain things transparent (and keeping them that way until it is time to switch them back, being abble to build paths while paused, etc are all more 'easy' or possible on the iPad. I also find myself wising that I could zoom in more in OpenRCT as I can zoome in much closer on the Ipad, which makes editing certain things better. but I find repairs and finding things like this better on the non- Ipad versions.
  8. Hi All, I am trying out OpenRCT for the first time (and only started playing RCT and RCT2 although i am old enough to have been in college when these we both released) and I have it working - but not quite as it should be. 1) I watched a couple of configuration videos for Open RCT and they both showed setting the path to and existing RCT2 installation in a stand alone set up launcher. I downloaded the OpenRCT installer and installed it and I do not see this launcher. Moreover, I do not see a place within Open RCT options to set a path for the existing installation of RCT2. Are these videos out of date? or am I missing something crucial? 2) I found a website that hosts a number of files for the various versions of RCT and I downloaded a number of rides with the .tr6 extension. I copied these into the RCT2 location that also contained the .tr6 files installed with the games (GOG version) and yet these new rides do not show up in the ride editor, etc. Yet if I run the Ride manager (I may not have the exact name correct for the program) and try to install these same rides that I copied and pasted, then it tells me there is already a ride installed with this name - yet it will not display the ride in the lists so I can select it. I know the new rides won't show up in a scenario, unless they were included in the rides possible for the scenario - so this is not what I am talking about. I am just trying to get them installed so I can look at them in the ride designer tool. Any help with either of these two topics is most appreciated.
