bammo10 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Hey everyone, Just found out about this project yesterday, and I am amazed by the progress you have already made. Anyways, I found this thread on Reddit from a while ago where Janisozaur uploaded an XP build of the project. Unfortunately the link he posted there was only valid for two weeks, so I can't download it from there anymore. I run XP on two netbooks that are a couple years old now, because it just runs better than newer OS's. I would appreciate it a lot if anyone could supply me with a build that works on XP, doesn't really matter which version. Or if that would be too much work, maybe explain how I can compile it myself. Thanks in advance!
RuneLaenen Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 If only XP runs on the laptops, it might be a good idea to try Linux OpenRCT2 does run 100% on that. It is possible to make an XP build, but without networking and twitch support. We're also not officially supporting XP anymore because of obvious reasons. If you still want/need help with building it yourself, let uw know.
bammo10 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't want to put Linux on them again. To make things clear I have a good laptop running W10 right now myself so I can play, but the netbooks are my parents' and they can't work with Linux and I can't repartition them. Anywho, in the Reddit thread I quoted there was also a comment about it now being easier to produce Windows XP builds, and it has only been a couple weeks since. Are you sure that you guys really can't produce these builds anymore now? I have quite a bit of experience programming / compiling C code but I wouldn't know how to compile this project right now, but if you guys could point me in the right direction that'd be great. I read some things about Mingw builds working on XP so should I try that? Regards
janisozaur Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) https://transfer.sh/O8LFO/openrct2.dll Be sure to ping me next time, you can also use mingw to compile them on your own. @bammo10 can you let me know what kind of hardware do you have (I'd like specific CPU model1) and how well does it run? You can use "show fps" + "uncap fps" options. I may be able to provide builds that are better suited to your hw. @RuneLaenen my builds have all the things working. 1 http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html – whole first page would be the best. bammo10 Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 @janisozaur Amazing! Exactly what I was looking for. I got it to work right away and it is working perfectly. I will test it some more, see how it runs, and I will let you know all the details of the system and how it runs. Thanks so much!
