]]>6739Sat, 21 Dec 2024 01:04:29 +0000My Custom Rideshttps://forums.openrct2.org/topic/1613-my-custom-rides/ I've now finished my Intamin LSM launch coaster (sometimes referred to as blitzcoaster) trains, and uploaded them here. These are the type seen on rides like Maverick, iSpeed, Nefeskesen. They also appear to be used on Intamin's vertical lift coaster (of which the only example is Fahrenheit). These aren't accelerator or looping coaster trains, though they do look quite similar at this scale.

There are lots of variants of this train - a lot of the newer ones have lap bars in place of the OTSRs, and many of those that had these OTSRs have been retrofitted with alternative softer versions, so no coaster actually runs this exact train anymore. In addition, many of the trains have additional theming, and Taron's is completely custom.

This is the first train I've done for which you have to use a hack to have a realistic layout - it either needs a hacked launch, or a hacked vertical lift. Anything else probably wouldn't be running this train, at least as far as I can tell. I am hoping that OpenRCT2 will at some point in the future add proper launch and inversion pieces, but the former would require a new file format.

I've recently gotten back into RCT, and have even found some success creating custom scenery using the object editor to make objects in .DAT format. I've been *trying* to get into making scenery (and hopefully rides!) in the PARKOBJ format, but I can't seem to locate the right info. I've gotten as far as extracting the JSON and images.dat files, and from there I can see that we have the object info in the JSON file (price, name, etc.). But then we have the 'images.dat' file, which AFAIK contains the images and the position information (like the pos.txt in Buggy's Ridemaker) - but how the heck do I make one of these? or read it... or repackage(re-zip?) the PARKOBJ file lol...


I'm hoping to figure out where to go from here- I'm missing some key information but I'm not sure what or where to look, any related info will be helpful!

I figure that if I find out how to cook up a proper 'images.dat' and find out how to properly repackage them into the PARKOBJ then I'm good to go, but of course I can't be sure...

#5 Starflyer / Windseeker Concept

So a way I could see making a star flyer / windseeker possible is making a model that can fit on the roto drop and use cheats to get the roto drop to operate in observation mode so it spins while going up slow and down slow, all we need is a model to put on the tower, the same goes for launched freefall.

After multiple attempts with changing different settings, I was unable to change Ropey Rapids so that its default state is with a plain entrance and exit, and I have given up. People will have to change it manually.

 

The Shuttle Loop is not an exact recreation, as it lacks the original train type from the first game. There is nothing I can do about this. As far as I can tell, it functions the same as it does in the original game.

]]>6625Wed, 28 Aug 2024 13:40:34 +0000Logger's Revenge for OpenRCT2https://forums.openrct2.org/topic/6623-loggers-revenge-for-openrct2/ I downloaded a large file containing all the RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 scenarios (base game and expansion packs), and, while playing the Forest Frontiers level, I noticed the absence of the Logger's Revenge pre-build that was part of the original RollerCoaster Tycoon. Naturally, I found this unacceptable, as it significantly interfered with nostalgic immersion.

 

I have managed to recreate this Log Flume ride. As far as I can see, I have recreated it with perfect accuracy. I hope this is the case.

 

After doing some searching, I have found that the other links to downloading this ride seem to be dead.

 

I want to recreate Ropey Rapids, but it seems to be too hard to do. I have recreated the Shuttle Loop pre-build, but it is not the same without the original rollercoaster train type.
