It will only lose backward compatibility, not forward compatibility.  You won't be able to open new OpenRCT2 files in vanilla RCT2, but you can open vanilla RCT2 files in OpenRCT2.

To ensure that, I would claim the park really quickly after @giraty  and add a sign to that area saying that you are claiming it. You might also want to put up some fences to mark the area off so people know the exact area you want to use.

On a related note @Broxzier , we had a NCSO no expansions thing for Group Park 4, IIRC, to try and get the park into the title sequence for OpenRCT2.  Whatever became of that and how can we get Group Park 6 into the title sequence, if possible?
