  1. Queue lines aren't necessary for any ride, but entrances and exits are. If there is no queue line leading up to a rides entrance, the peeps will board the ride one at a time, but sporadically. If there is a queue line leading into a rides entrance, the peeps will wait in line to board the ride as a group.

Check and set the rides boarding limits (how many people it fits) you can adjust these and waiting time, and wait for full load settings.

  2. Try waiting maybe 5 minutes on the black screen. The game might suddenly start after that amount of time. After it starts once, it might only take 20 seconds the next time you open it. Unfortunately i have this problem with my old windows Vista laptop. If the game updates to another version, it sometimes takes five minutes to start from the black screen, and there after the game will load in about 20 seconds.

  3. The g2.dat file should be in        c: (or whatever your main hard drive letter is)..... at.... C:\Program Files\OpenRCT2\data. It should be around 106 kb large. There should also be a much larger G1.dat file in that same folder next to the g2.dat file that is about 16.5 MB large.

Openrct2, for me, on my windows vista laptop, installed itself in a weird way. It created the folder mentioned previously, but it also made a folder in "my name"\documents\openrct2. I used to run the openrct2.exe from this "my name"\documents directory, (i think)... But now the openrct2.exe i use is in "C:\Program Files\OpenRCT2\openrct2.exe".

Anyway you could have a virus or malware that is causing a problem. Maybe your administrative privileges are messed up, are you the administrator of the computer? Do you have "uac" user account control on? I would turn it off if i were you. I don't know what else to say, maybe some of these ideas might help... Make sure you are using the computer and installing stuff as you/ being the administrator. Turn uac off too if you have it on. Try looking for an exe file in "your name"\documents\openrct2.

  4. I think it's a great idea, but it would have to be added to the game. An animation would also need to be drawn to represent the actual lightning strike. The game developers seem to be worrying about other more practical issues with the game at the moment so something like a lightning strike breakdown being added is not so important right now... i guess.

  5. You could try installing the linux version of openrct2 here https://www.openrct2.org/downloads/master/latest. It may or may not work with your chromebook but according to wikipedia.org, chromebook uses a form of "linux" as its operating system. The only problem (at least i think) is that anyone who wants to play openrct2, must also have an official version of rct2 already installed on their computer for openrct2 to function.

You will also need zipping/unzipping software to open the "openrct2 linux" file which is in a .gz file format. Unzipping software can be downloaded for free at https://www.winzip.com/gz-file.html or https://www.7-zip.org/. I use "7-zip".

  6. I use scale factor 1.0 and 1280x800 resolution. I use a toshiba laptop with a very "crisp" display, but i've noticed the games graphics don't look as good on the computers at the library near me. The library in my neighborhood has hp, or some other brand, "all in one" computers with very large screens. The graphics aren't as crisp and the colors aren't as bright on them. The graphics on my computer look even better if i tilt my screen a bit to make it darker. I never use any other scale factors other than 1.0. For me, any thing else looks really bad.

but I'm also talking about this in terms of the situations where the only way to get to and from certain sections of the park is through transport rides

well then my system would still work.

    1 hour ago, Dapianokid said:

That's why I suggest the possibility of making it so transport rides are interpreted as footpaths

It sounds like you are suggesting that the peeps walk along and on top of the transport tracks as if they were a path? This makes no sense, you could just put an invisible path over the track with "disable clearance checks" checked if you wanted to.

  8. I am not currently a developer, but i know some programming. Currently the peep pathfinding logic does not seem to be optimized, at least not for the parks that i've created, but it still works well enough that i can get a 999 rating.

If the coding and logic was changed to suit only some parks, like mine, then it may become unsuitable for other parks. This is why it may be complicated or unwise to change the peep travel logic altogether. However, i do agree that peeps finding rides and attractions via transport would be a nice feature to incorporate into the game either as a feature to be turned on or off, or as an always incorporated feature.

Code would have to be added or rewritten for this to happen,

And the code would probably have to look something more like this:

-say a peep is at tile 1,1 and a ride or stall they want to get to is at tile 45,38. Next imagine that there is a transport ride with its entrance at tile 8,10, and its exit at tile 48,40,. The peep would have to know somehow that that transport rides exit is close to the attraction they want to get to.

    So the code would have to be something like: {peep wants to visit 'pool' at 45,38; ... 45,38 is 45 tiles away; transport exit exists at 48,40 (6 tiles from 'pool') ; transport entrance is only 10 tiles away; 10+6=16 16<45; peep is tired; peep chooses transport ride; peep proceeds to tile 8,10 for queue to transport ride to seek 'pool'.}

  9. Go into options (the gear icon), in a game or in the main menu, and make sure enable debugging tools is checked. Next, while in a game, click the "gears icon" (debugging tools).

From that menu, select "object selection"....

If you want to select individual objects, click on the "advanced" button... while in the "object selection" menu you can select individual objects by "checking" the box next to each object's name,... you can also select "object groups" in the same way.  (right now the number of object files and object groups that are allowed in one park is limited and disorganized, though these limitations may be improved in future versions of openrct2).

Also..., after you select an "object group" you will probably get a message... something like: "not every object from this group could be selected" ( I don't know why this happens but it does... ) and every object from that group may not become selected.

Currently, the object selection system is limited, but may become more organized and expansive in the future. I do not know when or if this will happen, because i am not a developer.

If you do not have certain object files in your C:\Users\"yourname"\Documents\OpenRCT2\object, folder or in your C:\Program Files\OpenRCT2\ObjData, folder or in your C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\RollerCoaster Tycoon 2\ObjData, folder, then you could have crashes or problems opening parks that contain those missing files.

Many advanced users and builders from "nedesign.com" build within "workbenches".

To build within a "workbench" you must first download the "workbench" (it will be an .sv6 or .sv4 file).

Next,  while in openrct2, you must open that workbench as if it were a park. Once the park (workbench) is loaded, a large number of scenery groups will be available to you to build with while in that particular park. There are multiple "workbenches" to build within, all of which contain different combinations of object files, but at the moment i don't know where you have to go to download them...  other than right here:

Here are some workbenches that i happen to have. They are in a ".zip" file so you need "unzipping" software to open the ".zip" file( https://www.7-zip.org/ ). Let me know if you want or need some of these workbench files as "unzipped":

    workbenches.zip

    or at:

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/jjldjqk7qa0mw7v/workbenches.zip

Your suggestion is a good one, and something that i wish for too, but the availability of all of, or most of the object files at once during a game will not be possible until the developers incorporate them into the game, while also creating a new "save format" which might be ".sv7" for example.

  10. If i start my game windowed, the game window opens blank with only the window border showing, but i hear the theme music. Only after i wait for a few moments, or minimize the window and reopen the window, can i see the games graphics. I wonder if my problem is related, i use windows vista 32-bit. Anyway, i guess i might report this at github.com.

  11. I just answered this question a few days ago, it was asked by someone recently in "problems bugs and feedback". I myself, have never been able to start a server of my own, but i researched how to. It involves opening up a "port" for a game through your internet service provider. Read my answer here it might help. :

  12. I have recently researched, and looked into how to open a port for hosting an openrct2 game.

And guess what... it is very complicated! Also you could be putting your computer at risk by opening ports for hosting games. Most people are claiming that there is little risk in opening ports, yet others claim there is some risk.

Anyway if you really want to do it, your best chance would be to go to, and log into the website of your internet service provider with your account name and password. Most internet providers will be verizon or xfinity, but if you have a different provider then go to that website.

Next go into "support" and then "internet support" ( at least this is the case for xfinity) and look for, or search for "port forwarding" or "i want to open a port for a game" etc. They (the internet service provider) should provide you with instructions from their website. There are about 6-10 steps you must take to open a port.

Follow the instructions provided by your internet service provider. You could also try asking them to instruct you over the phone or through internet chat on how to open a port. And, You just might be able to host a multiplayer openrct2 game.

    Good Luck.

Here are the instructions that i would have to follow in order to open a port through my xfinity router and service, though your case may be different if you use a different internet service provider. : https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/port-forwarding-xfinity-wireless-gateway

  13. There used to be a slider, i think, in the options menu, for adjusting the in-game brightness, but i cannot find it at this time, and so it may have been temporarily or permanently removed from the game by the programmers... There is also an option to be checked and unchecked in the "tree" /"rendering" tab in options, to cycle night and day, this can cause a change in brightness during the game.

You may be having some unusual or strange problem that is otherwise, and if so, i couldn't help you myself, i am not a programmer.

Since you have a Program Files (x86) folder, it most likely means your computer is 64-bit and you should use the x64 version (but x86 should work anyways).

okay i understand why he said that now.

  15. No!,...  -x86 is usually 32-bit. -"x64" is 64 bit. Your computer may be a 64-bit computer and if so you would need to download the 64 bit version of openrct2 or openrct2 launcher.

How do I know if I have a 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 10?
To find the Windows type, do the following:
    1. Click Start and right-click My Computer.
    2. Select Properties.
    3. From the General tab, look at the Windows XP version name listed under System. If the version name contains the text "x64 Edition", your computer has a 64-bit version of Windows XP.

    OR:

    1. Look under PC for Edition to find out which version and edition of Windows that your PC is running. Look under PC for Version to find out which version of Windows 10 your PC is running. Look under PC for System type to see if you're running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows.

sometimes a computer's processor is called: "something 64", or "something 32, or 86" you usually have to ignore this and go by the rule above by checking what version of windows you are running, (x64 or x86) (64bit, or 32-bit) (windows 10 64-bit x64, or windows 10 32-bit x86).

  16. Just go to https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/issues or click on "issue tracker" in "problems bugs and feedback". You then have to sign up with github, but this is not too hard to do. You also may need to use firefox or ie browser for github, if your chrome or browser is not up to date (i use firefox for "github"). Then after you are signed up, and signed in at github, post your issue by pressing the green "new issue" button. Follow the instructions such as giving them the version of openrct2 you are using, and your computer operating system etc. You could then just copy and paste your issue there if you want to, and submit it. That's it.

I'm surprised you got even more glitches by changing to "release" but there is obviously some kind of problem, so telling them at github would be best.

  17. I used to get glitchy objects if i told the launcher to download "stable" instead of "develop" mode or maybe it was the other way around, i don't remember exactly which one was which, all i remember is that one was glitchy and one wasn't. Anyway, maybe if you go into options from the launcher start window, and next to "Branch:" select "develop" instead of "release" or vise versa, then you might stop having glitched objects.... ?.?> Though your problem may be being caused by something else that i'm not aware of.
